FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Are you the real original Glampire? A lot of people say they are Glampire.
A: Yes indeed I am the originator of that word as well as the style and the sound and the overall essence of all that is known the world over as Glampire. It originated in August 1996 in NYC. I hold the registered trademark as well as Glampire being part of my legal name. Anyone can claim they are a Glampire in so far as their style, however I am THE Glampire, the original street legend, AKA the Glittanigga, and all others have come after me as a secondary representative of the culture I helped define. As I’ve said all along, I am not the only one, but I did define the culture, by giving its name, attitude, style and its mission statement; which is make responsible art in the 21st century.

Q: Why did you stop or take a break? What happened? Where did you go?
A: 9/11/2001 happened. I decided to move on as I felt I had accomplished my goal of effecting cultural change and upholding the New Responsibility for Artists in the 21st century. It appears I was right. Glampire, and Glam and Goth, indie music via the internet is well and good as a strong part of the collective consciousness. It permeates across all cultural boundaries and Glampire has made it in many ways safe to be indie and a rock “star’, or a flamboyant one at the very least. See the Essays section and the Glampire Diaries “Tales of a Street Legend”, for further and detailed explanations of why and how things came to be and why they are the way they are currently.

Q: Are you gay?
A: No. I do believe that ALL humans should be treated with equal fairness and allowed to be themselves as long as they are not infringing on anyone’s wellbeing, health or happiness. Essentially we’re all the same beings, 70% water and 30% mass, once you’ve lived a big life you realize people are people, and it’s about avoiding the stupid people and stepping with respect.

Q: Are ever going to play shows or tour?
A: That depends on if I am getting paid and a whole other host of criteria. Take it anyway you like, but the reality is I am not interested in performing for free, or putting up with the nonsense that attaches itself to the gigging lifestyle unless I’m getting paid. I have played shows of every kind from zero people and no money to thousands and no money, to promised money and not paid, and occasionally actually getting paid. Playing live is all the same thing to one degree or another, it’s work that is for sure. I am at a point where I can assure a promoter that I will deliver a professional and entertaining world class performance. I’m just not working for free, after all; do you? Does the promoter, the bar tender, the DJ? If you are actually serious about the live aspect, contact my representative and we can hash it out.

Q: Where can I get your CD’s?
A: My suggestion would be www.cdbaby.com that is the only place that I will get paid from CD sales or MP3 downloads, so that would very cool of you, should you decide to get some of my music. All other outlets that sell Glampire Musesick are in the process of being contacted about monies owed to me.

Q: Are you making new music, are you releasing anything?
A: Yes. As usual I have a disgustingly vulgar amount of music piled up. It will be coming out over 2010 and beyond.

Q: What is all this stuff about essays on culture and the Glampire Diary?
A: Glampire has always had an intellectual and literary aspect. It’s about time I set the record straight, so to speak. It appears that since I’ve been gone away a lot of what I helped to create has come to life in various forms, why not let the world know where it all started, at least as far as I am concerned.

Q: What is the New Responsibility for the Artist in the 21st century?
A: In short not to add anything to the already sky high pile of mundane, average, copycat, vapid art that already exists. Make art that will stand out and add to the culture not detract from it or muck it up.
